• Going to Cambodia, and on a personal level, what do you hope to achieve? (Give at least three different objectives)
Firstly, i hope that i can be a 'better' person when i return. better in the sense that hopefully, with the plenty of interaction with new people, i can be more sociable. Not sociable is a major obstacle in my life, causes plenty of misunderstanding here and there. 'better' person also means i wanna be even more independent. Actually, I'm already very independent but still, i don't know how to put it, maybe achieve another higher level?
secondly, i hope that by the little things that i will be doing for the kids in Hope Village, it will be able to make a difference in the life. at least, make them have an enjoyable week! initially when i knew that we're going to build houses, i swear i thought that houses refer to really houseSSSSS. plenty of S. which means, i really thought that we will be building about 5 or 6 or even more. until i went for the DFI camp thing, and i heard from Mr Ben that it's HOUSE...ermm...without the S. i was pretty shocked actually. so many of us. 4 days somemore. yet, we can only build one house. it's really...so i think i should stop overestimating our ability.
thirdly, i hope that i can overcome my fear such as for lizards and dogs. people...don't laugh when you read this. this 2 animals/insects(actually i'ld prefer to call them beast), they really caused me lots of misery. i don't wish to go in depth into it but well, they're just horribly scary.
anw, if there's really a dog, i really will run. and CKM, you better help me!!!!!!!!!!
• On my own, have I made a concerted effort to find out more about Cambodia? Its geography, history, culture, politics, economy? What can I do about it?
after the first meeting with the whole group, i read up on the killing fields. i can roughly imagine how all of us will feel after ending the visit to the exact location. as for the geography part, i roughly know that it's a county surrounding by thai, viet and laos. mainly the geog and hist part i read up slightly, but i'm totally unsure about the politics and economy, just know that it's not a democratic country.
• What are your fears going on this trip? Elaborate.
my fears, once again, they're the horrible lizards and dogs. and the sun and the mosquitoes. but for the sun and mosquitoes part, i think i'm rather prepared. and most importantly, it's the food too. I'm a very picky eater!!!!!! so so so...cup noodles - i shall depend on you!
all in all, i hope that this is a enjoyable and memorable trip for all of us at the end of the 12 days. it's something that we will remember for life so of course, let's make it fun and enjoy to the maxxxxx!!!!!!!!!!!
i'm going out now to meet my dear samsam and km, and then, back home again for the final packing up!
Jolie and CHANKAMING, rmb to do this reflection thing alright?
see you guys tonight/tmr morning!:)
Loves,
Jinglin
